The crushing and grinding processes of a copper–molybdenum operation were benchmarked using the proposed method. The energy performance of alternative comminution circuits was assessed for the same operation using the BEF approach. Results showed that a two-stage HPGR – high speed stirred mill circuit provided the best energy performance.
