    I am familiar with larger mills taking SP..42.P.. inserts, which are not fragile. And I've got one mill that take TPKR43.PDTR inserts and can't recall ever breaking one of those. However the Iscar HM390 inserts look like they've got a big helix angle, which might make the edges more sensitive to being installed over burrs or grit.

    Not an insert, but I have found Garr carbide end mills are razor sharp, but very delicate. They will last for ever if run properly in a CNC mill, but so easily damaged in a Bridgeport type mill. I have used Mitsubishi carbide end mills in Bridgeport type mills with great results, so I know they tolerate my unnecessary roughness a little bit better.
